Dear John, Hyperallergic’s writing on marginalized artists has uplifted our communities in the art world. We are now seen, and not just by a photo op or a cutline, but with real in-depth writing that allows readers to get acquainted with us. I was so appreciative to read about Jeremy Frey, Native basketmaker extraordinaire, as I am whenever I read about a Native artist I’ve never heard of. Hyperallergic’s staff does an incredible job of locating these stories. I also appreciate reading about other communities and am happy to learn about artists in other parts of the world. Hyperallergic is so valuable to me. There is no other zine like it. The others look bland, colonial, and like standard fare in comparison. Hyperallergic’s coverage is lively, full of surprises, and a learning experience every time I open it, which is every day — the first art news I go to. Thank you all so, so much. Hyperallergic is a blessing in my life. Jaune Quick-to-See Smith | Become a member | Jaune Quick-to-See Smith is an enrolled Salish member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Nation, Montana.
