If you can't get enough of them, this is like hearing a new season of KUWTK is dropping. If you want it to stop, then it's another reason to stay off Facebook. Like the Kardashians, LaVar Ball is positioning his family to be a part of the cultural zeitgeist as much as a part of the NBA landscape. If Lonzo, LAMELO and LIANGELO can't be All-Stars, they can still be TV content. It doesn't seem like LaVar trying to raise a family of basketball stars. He's trying to start a dynasty... FOX SPORTS 1 launched with a lot of hype. Four years later, it's mired in controversy, from its on-air talent to its fired head of programming. How did a network with large aspirations get stuck in the muck? SportsSET: "Fox Sports 1's Identity Crisis"... AMAZON continues to put its hooks into the sports marketplace. This won't get as much attention as its NFL rights purchase but it reached a deal with FRANCE's NATIONAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE to advertise in all its arenas and at high-profile events, and its logo will be on uniforms. Amazon will also create a shop for the league's top level teams. Could this be a precursor of Amazon doing something similar in the US with the NFL, NBA, NCAA or MLB? Could there be implications for how US leagues license and sell merchandise in the future? If you believe Amazon is taking over retail then it's only a matter of time until it disrupts the sports merchandise market... The next sports business controversy? Autographs. Did you get an autographed DAK PRESCOTT PANINI trading card? That signature might not be real. This comes amid a high-profile lawsuit involving the GIANTS and ELI MANNING allegedly counterfeiting game-worn jerseys. The cynical fan might not be that surprised. Still, this stings. When you pay for a product you should get it. It's not that hard. Can we ever trust "autographed" or "game-worn" stuff again? I never did. Maybe I'm not so crazy...
