It is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be.

Eli Roth and Brad Pitt in "Inglourious Basterds" (2009) (The Weinstein Company)
Wednesday - November 02, 2016 Wed - 11/02/16
rantnrave:// Exactly two years ago in our REDEF MediaORIGINAL, "Film Franchises, Platforms & IP: The Future of Superhero Cinema", we made (and explained) several predictions/recommendations for the major studios, each of which was focused on building out their own MARVEL Cinematic Universe. #1: FOX should (A) Refocus X-MEN on low budget blockbusters focused specifically on individual characters (e.g. DEADPOOL, the forthcoming LOGAN) and that (B) X-Men: Apocalypse would under-deliver, (C) as would Fantastic Four (leaving to an abandonment of the IP). #2 Sony should license SPIDER-MAN back to DISNEY. #3 Warner Bros. would continue to experience huge swings in the financial performance of their DC films, and even at best, continue to underperform Disney. And Disney, #4, would continue to crush it. 24 months later, every one of these predictions has essentially come true (nice work from REDEF's MATT BALL). What hasn’t? Our advice on what these studios should do after: big risks buying other, wholly ownable/controllable IP. But there’s always time... LEONARDO DICAPRIO explores the topic of climate change... Outside of a massive hack, anyone that writes a story that is "X is down right now" should be put on leave without pay for 2 days... Her majesty makes an offer... I'm demanding and judgemental. Not that there's anything wrong with that... I dare you... Happy Birthday to ANN SARNOFF, JIM CITRIN, M.G. SIEGLER and NIRAV TOLIA.

If Palantir really cared about diversity, it wouldn't pay its employees like this
by Felix Salmon
Most of America makes its money the old-fashioned way: by getting paid, dollar by hard-earned dollar. Silicon Valley, however, is not most of America. In Silicon Valley there is no shortage of riches, to be sure. But that wealth didn’t arrive in the form of paychecks. Instead, it invariably arrived when people cashed in the shares they’d been granted in fast-growing companies.
