The Lunch Line: Jared Brossett's DWI arrest. And Coach O's big payday.

By Bob Warren

The Coach O show: Without a Saints game on Sunday, you might have feared a dearth of water cooler chatter this morning. Not today. The big sports story from Baton Rouge, LSU's formal parting with football coach Ed Orgeron, is still making big waves in the news pool.

Our Jeff Duncan has this take . . .

And here’s some potential coaching targets we'll hear a lot about going forward . . .

Oh, and if you're thinking being a college football coach is lucrative, well, you'd be on the money there. Coach O is getting nearly $17 million to move along.

Brossett DWI arrest: For the second time in just over a year, New Orleans City Council member Jared Brossett faces a DWI charge. Brossett was booked into the city’s jail before dawn this morning. On top of everything else, the timing is awful -- Brossett is campaigning for an at-large City Council seat in next month’s elections. A spokesperson said this morning he was determining the status of that candidacy.

Speaking of campaigns, Gambit is hosting a debate for At-Large Div. 2 candidates on Wednesday. Here are the details.

Detail oriented: Some New Orleans police officers are earning a lot of money from their off-duty police detail jobs. John Simerman reports the practice has raised questions in the past.

Lil' Taysoms: Having a baby soon? If you’re still searching for names, perhaps . . .  Taysom? Yeah, naming babies Taysom is a thing, spurred on in great part by the popularity of the Saints’ Taysom Hill, Amie Just reports.

Hope you enjoyed the Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us today.
