Get Notified When Jane Posts New Art BiographyABOUT THE ARTIST: Jane grew up in Michigan where her journey of art-making began at the age of eighteen with her first camera. She found joy in looking through the viewfinder, composing a world, then seeing that world come to life in the darkroom. A self- taught artist, photography led her into exploring other media including collage, monoprinting, manipulated Polaroid photography and painting, which has become her primary focus. Jane is an award-winning artist, showing her work in regional and national juried exhibitions since 1994. She has advanced her practice through workshops, university fine art courses, private mentoring and self-study. While maintaining a psychotherapy practice, Jane continued to create her own art and encouraged her clients to use art as a means of self expression. Since retiring, Jane paints daily in her home studios located in East Aurora, NY and Bonita Springs, FL. Jane is represented by Meibohm Fine Arts, East Aurora, NY and Fine Line Designs Gallery, Ephraim (Door County), WI. Her original passion remains the same, to revel in the joy of creation and bring the viewer along with her. ARTIST STATEMENT: My passion in painting is finding emotion and mood in abstracted landscapes or seascapes through the sensitive use of color and texture. Focusing on an ever-changing horizon line has become an intuitive departure point in my work which hovers between realism and abstraction. My paintings are done either in acrylic or oil mixed with cold wax. I describe my style as intuitive expressionism, preferring to access my memories and imagination, rather than reference materials, to create paintings that entice the viewer with their atmospheric effects. My influences include, but certainly are not limited to, Monet, O'Keeffe, Turner, Inness, Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler and Jane Wilson. The following quote by Seth Godin echoes my hopes and desires around my own need to create: "Art is a personal gift that changes the recipient. The medium doesn't matter. The intent does. Art is a personal act of courage, something one human does that creates change in another." Learn More About Jane Foley Ferraro Who Does Kevin Macpherson Trust with His Website? FASO, of Course!
