Jalen Hurts! |
At this point, you really shouldn't have a decision to make when it comes to starting Hurts most weeks, and if you do, you probably need to make a trade. Because you want Hurts in your lineup more often than not. He's started seven games in his career, scoring at least 20.6 points in six of them -- the only one he didn't was when he was pulled in the second half of Week 17 last season. |
Even during what was objectively not a particularly good game in Week 3, he still finished with 24 points at Dallas, and he did that without doing much in the running game. This week, he's got the Chiefs on the schedule, and his success should continue against a defense that has struggled to stop the run, including over 100 yards to Lamar Jackson in Week 2. Hurts is on a 1,095-yard pace over his seven career starts, and that gives him a high floor and a high ceiling each week. |
In this evening's newsletter we're highlighting Jamey's top picks for the week at each position, and you can read his thoughts on why he chose Hurts in his Start 'Em & Sit 'Em column right here, along with the rest of his picks. |
Tomorrow morning, you'll get your typical Fantasy Football Today newsletter, featuring Dave Richard's Start/Sit picks, updates on all the injuries you need to know about for Week 5, and a preview of Thursday's game between the Bengals and Jaguars. |
But for now, here's who Jamey is starting and sitting this week: |
Quarterback Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Kirk Cousins and Joe Burrow |
"The Jaguars are the only team to hold Kyler Murray under 20 Fantasy points this season when he scored 17 points last week. But prior to that, Jacksonville gave up 27 Fantasy points against Taylor in Week 1 and 25 points against Teddy Bridgewater in Week 2. Burrow hasn't scored more than 22 Fantasy points in any game this season, so he's due for a big game, even if Tee Higgins (shoulder) is out again. And in his past three home games going back to last season, Burrow has 916 passing yards, eight total touchdowns and one interception." |
Sit 'Em: Teddy Bridgewater and Ben Roethlisberger |
"Bridgewater's first real test comes in Week 4 against the Ravens after he excelled in matchups against the Giants, Jaguars and Jets. He scored at least 23 Fantasy points in his first two starts (he didn't need to do much against the Jets), but this is easily the toughest defense he's faced this season. While Baltimore struggled against Derek Carr and Patrick Mahomes in the first two weeks of the season, the Ravens clamped down on Jared Goff last week and should make things tough on Bridgewater. He's only worth starting in two-quarterback and Superflex leagues." |
|
Running Back Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Chuba Hubbard and Trey Sermon |
"Hubbard is expected to start for the injured Christian McCaffrey (hamstring), and it's worth trusting Hubbard as a No. 2 Fantasy running back this week in all leagues. He had 14 touches in Week 3 at Houston when McCaffrey got hurt, converting 11 carries into 52 yards, along with three catches for 27 yards on five targets. We'll see what role Royce Freeman has, but Hubbard should have a big game catching the ball. Dallas is No. 3 in receptions allowed to running backs with 26 on the season. " |
Sit 'Em: Myles Gaskin and Damien Harris |
"Gaskin has been a bust for the season so far, and it's hard to trust him in Week 4 against the Colts. While he did have a season-high 13 carries in Week 3 at Las Vegas, he's yet to score a touchdown this year and topped out at 11 PPR points in Week 1 at New England. Malcolm Brown is too much of a factor for Gaskin, especially in short-yardage situations, and the Dolphins offensive line has been a problem as well. The Colts have allowed Chris Carson and Derrick Henry to each gain over 110 total yards this year, but neither scored a touchdown. And the Colts have allowed just 11 receptions to running backs this season. Gaskin is still worth using as a flex option in PPR, but he's no longer a must-start Fantasy running back heading into Week 4." |
|
Wide Receiver Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Deebo Samuel and Odell Beckham |
"We could see a shift at some point where Brandon Aiyuk takes over as the No. 1 receiver for the 49ers, but right now Samuel has been that guy. He has at least eight targets in three games in a row, and he scored at least 15 PPR points in each of the first two games this year. He had a tough matchup in Week 3 against Green Bay and scored just 10 PPR points, but he should have more freedom against Seattle this week. The Seahawks have faced four receivers who had at least eight targets in a game against them, and three of them scored at least 17 PPR points." |
Sit 'Em: Michael Pittman and Chase Claypool |
"We're waiting to find out the status of Diontae Johnson (knee) and JuJu Smith-Schuster (ribs), but Claypool is fine and coming off a solid game in Week 3 against the Bengals with nine catches for 96 yards on 15 targets. He could have the chance for plenty of volume again if Johnson and Claypool are out, but he also should see plenty of coverage from Packers standout cornerback Jaire Alexander. Last week, Alexander helped limit Samuel to five catches for 52 yards on 10 targets, and Claypool could end up with a similar outcome. I'd only use Claypool as a No. 3 Fantasy receiver in all leagues this week." |
Tight End Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Kyle Pitts |
"We're at the point of the season already where Fantasy managers are ready to bail on Pitts after a slow start. Don't do that yet. While he doesn't have a touchdown and just had a season-low three targets and two catches in Week 3 at the Giants, this could be a breakout game for him. Washington struggled with Jared Cook a little in Week 1 when he had five catches for 56 yards on eight targets, and Dawson Knox had four catches for 49 yards and a touchdown against Washington last week on five targets. Hopefully, Matt Ryan will lean on Pitts in this matchup, and I still plan to start him in all leagues." |
Sit 'Em: Robert Tonyan |
"Tonyan was shutout against the 49ers in Week 3 with one catch for 6 yards, but he did score in his last home game in Week 2 against the Lions with three catches for 52 yards and a touchdown on three targets. He's the classic touchdown or bust tight end, so if he's not scoring then he's not helping your Fantasy team. The Steelers have allowed one touchdown to a tight end this year, which was Foster Moreau in Week 2. However, in that same game, Pittsburgh held Darren Waller to five catches for 65 yards on seven targets. If the Steelers keep Tonyan out of the end zone then he's headed for a down game." |
|
DST Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Titans @NYJ |
"The Titans defense has not been good this season. It has allowed an average of 28 points per game against Arizona, Seattle and Indianapolis, and Tennessee has just one turnover and seven sacks on the year. But this is a good week to trust the Titans DST against the Jets. The Jets are allowing an average of five sacks per game, Zach Wilson has seven interceptions already and the team has scored 20 points in three games against the Panthers, Patriots and Broncos. " |
Sit 'Em: Cardinals @LAR |
"The Cardinals DST has been solid so far this season. Arizona's defense had six sacks, three turnovers and allowed just 13 points in Week 1 at Tennessee. And in Week 3 at Jacksonville, Arizona's defense had a touchdown, three sacks, four turnovers and allowed just 13 points. But the Rams are a step up in competition. Matthew Stafford has been sacked just three times and has only one interception. The Rams are averaging 31.7 points per game, and the Cardinals DST should be reserved in all leagues. " |
