Also: Restaurants become beacons of hope after Hurricane Ida
By Bob Warren Ordering ivermectin: Ivermectin is back in the news this morning. A month or so after a St. Tammany Parish judge ordered a Covington hospital to give the controversial drug to a woman with COVID-19, hospital lawyers have filed a petition to nullify the order, raising a host of longer-term questions. Sara Pagones has the story. And speaking of COVID threads. . . a group of GOP lawmakers has sent a letter to the governor demanding the state declare that no vaccines with full approval are available in Louisiana. A governor spokesperson calls the letter "ridiculous." A lawyer weighed in: "Complete nonsense." Better equipped: After Hurricane Ida, some restaurants fired up their gas-powered stoves and set themselves to feeding folks, their sweltering kitchens becoming beacons of hope. Our food guy, Ian McNulty, asks today: What if next time restaurants are even better equipped for this kind of thing? Extinct: Over the years, reported sightings of the ivory-billed woodpecker have driven bird watchers into the marshes across south Louisiana, hopw springing anew of finding the elusive bird. But proof of the creature's continued existence remained as elusive as the bird itself. Now, 80 years on from the last verified signting, the ivory-billed has been declared extinct. Giant lesson? So . . . fighting that Saints hangover today? Ugly game for sure. Our Jeff Duncan says this is one the Saints have to take something away from. Painful lessons. Hope you enjoyed the Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us today. BW |
