News from Saxony and our exciting news from the travel industry may not be missing, of course, as always.

Due to the increasing number of Covid-19 infections in November 2021 the Berlin Senate has made “2G“ (“geimpft” (vaccinated) and “genesen” (recovered)) rules mandatory for events. As per the new directive, for the time being only persons who are fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid may take part in events in Berlin. More information is in today's newsletter.

INFORMATION ON THE NEW ACCESS REGULATIONS AT ITB BERLIN 2022
Messe Berlin plans to hold ITB Berlin, the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show from 9 to 13 March 2022, as an in-person event in Berlin, with the Digital Business Day on Thursday, 17 March 2022 as a virtual addition to the show.

The situation regarding the pandemic remains in flux, and as a company owned by the Land of Berlin Messe Berlin conforms to the relevant legal provisions. The Berlin Senate has passed an amendment to the SARS-CoV-2 Infection Control Directive, effective as of 15 November 2021.

In accordance with this legal directive, that part of ITB Berlin which is to be held as an in-person event from 9 to 13 March 2022 must take place under “2G“ rules. Specifically, this means that only participants who have recovered from Covid or have been fully vaccinated having received an EU-approved Covid-19 vaccine, and who supply corresponding proof thereof, may be admitted to the event. A list of EU-approved Covid-19 vaccines can be found here. Against the backdrop of these latest developments, Messe Berlin will amend its safety and hygiene concept for “2G“ rules accordingly.

Detailed information on admission requirements can be found in our FAQs for visitors where we provide regular updates on the latest safety and hygiene measures.
