The Main Events within this year's edition are built on two different pillars; the "Rossini nel Piatto" Culinary Competition and Composition Competition, a Concert and Gala Dinner on the Ponte Vecchio and another World Premiere in the historic Florentine streets. 'Florentia G-Old Bridge' The musical work from the first 'Old Bridge' international composition award, organized by our Festival and curated by Maestro Francesco Traversi, will have its World Premiere in the atmosphere of these reflecting landscapes. The Arno, Florentia's water mirror, will become the mirror of the soul, a vibrant mosaic, decomposed into thousands of particles of light and sound, both born from waves of matter. Three Brass Ensembles will give voice to the musical creation, playing from the Ponte Vecchio, on the Lungarno riverbanks and, directly from the river Arno, on board the historical boats of the Renaioli, thanks to collaboration with the cultural association "I Renaioli". "Rossini nel piatto" International culinary award Thanks to the synergies of Laura Giannoni from the cultural association "Ponte Vecchio" and Gabriella Mari for the "Cordon Bleu" culinary art school in Florence, we have launched the international culinary award 'Rossini nel piatto'. A tribute to the Tuscan cuisine and to the gourmet Pesaro Gioachino Rossini, on the 150th anniversary of his death. Brass in Fiacchera - World Premiere For the first time in the history of the Festival, as well as that of our city, small ensembles from the Italian Brass Week will board the historic Florentine horse drawn carriages, the 'Fiacchere', and will be driven through the beauties of the historic center by the Florentine carriage drivers themselves. Tourists and enthusiasts will all be transported, metaphorically and literally, through this fascinating Florentine musical journey. The carriages will stop where something extraordinarily musical has happened for our city, and the Brass Ensemble will remember that event with their performances. The Brass in Fiacchera, after its tourist-musical trip, will arrive in Piazza Signoria, and will play on the Arengario of Palazzo Vecchio. We hope to see you at the Italian Brass Week 2018! |
