Before becoming a parent, I remember hearing people with kids talk about how they'd do whatever it took to keep them healthy and safe. The metaphors were always visceral, like fighting a bear or standing in front of a moving train. When my kids came along, I understood why — the love runs so deep. It became a priority for me to do all I could to protect my boys — and all kids — from the impacts of climate change.
Climate impacts — from superstorms to wildfires — are happening more and more frequently, and they're putting our kids and communities at risk. It can feel overwhelming until we learn about what each of us can do in our cities, towns, and school districts to work for solutions — like fighting for 100% clean energy.
I've always loved the saying "it takes a village to raise a child" because it asserts that we need one another to do big things. Working toward the goal of 100% clean energy takes all of us. We need to work together to tackle climate change and to mobilize in our cities, towns, and school districts. The Commit to Clean partnership between Seventh Generation and the Sierra Club's Ready For 100 and Climate Parents campaigns expands our work for a just and equitable future that benefits all communities. We're working to power the places we live, work, study, and play with 100% clean, renewable energy for all.
