The key to switching careers lies not in necessarily going back to school but developing lifelong skills that transfer across career fields, notes Marni Baker Stein from Western Governors University. "The transferability of skills from one industry to another is a big part of what skilling and re-skilling and up-skilling are all about," Stein said.

I love sports documentaries, namely those spotlighting high school and college football programs. My nephews got me into QB1 and Last Chance U, and I’m currently binge-watching All or Nothing: The Michigan Wolverines (I’ve been a Harbaugh fan since his days at Stanford).

And I’m fascinated with the academic coaches who work with the student-athletes. That’s tough work (How many times did Miss Brittany have to prod boys about having a pencil?!) but gratifying.

I love my work here at SmartBrief, but if I were to change careers, I would likely do something along the lines of academic coaching with student-athletes. Today’s Recruitment & Retention story talks about career transitioning and how up to 41% of employees today are considering it.

What would you do if you were to change careers? Tell me! And send this link to anyone you think could benefit from this brief.
