Dear Friend, Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina! It's Time for Change Click here to watch my speech on the Senate floor. Over the past 10 years, I have advocated for common sense policies to support our law enforcement officers and create safer communities. In the wake of Tyre Nichols’ death, I again called for action from my colleagues in Congress to bring the necessary change that prevent tragedies like this from happening again. Earlier this week, I went to the Senate floor and urged Senate Democrats to join me in passing legislation that could have stopped cruel injustices like the one in Memphis. Every day, our police officers put their lives on the line, and they deserve the proper resources and training they need to serve their communities effectively. We need to ensure that only the best wear the badge! Educating Not Indoctrinating Schools exist to educate children, not indoctrinate them. A quality education requires input from parents because they understand their childrens’ needs the best. Unfortunately, radical gender policies have shut parents out the classroom and broken their trust. Parents must be actively involved in the classroom for student success. That’s why I reintroduced the PROTECT Kids Act. My bill will safeguard parental rights, improve the critical relationship between schools and parents, and ensure that children can learn in an environment free from ideological and political agendas. Read more about my PROTECT Kids Act here! Banking on a Brighter Future I am excited for the opportunity to serve as Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Banking in addition to the Foreign Relations, Finance, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and Aging Committees. I will continue to fight for practical solutions that will expand access to opportunity for all Americans. I am confident that if we can come together to find common ground, the 118th Congress will restore the American dream and set our underserved communities on the path to success. This month, we will honor the past and present contributions of Black Americans to our nation. As we celebrate, it is vital we continue to foster opportunity for the next generation of leaders. Spilling the #SCSweetTea on a Life of Service This week, I am spilling the #SCSweetTea on Jerry Richardson for his 50 years of service to the City of Dillon Fire Department. At age 21, Jerry began his lifelong dedication to his community as a first responder. Congratulations on 50 years of service! Jerry’s commitment to serving and protecting his community is a powerful legacy for generations to come. Read more about Jerry’s story here. Sincerely, |
