Presented by: APA Style and School Library Journal Event Date and Time: Tuesday, May 9, 2023 | 2:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT | High school students typically learn MLA style for their English classes; however, when they go to college, most students choose majors that require them to use APA Style. Students often find it challenging to transition to using APA Style—not just because APA Style is new but also because so many other “new” things are also happening to them as they begin their higher education. Attend this webinar to learn how to prepare your high school students to use APA Style as well as how to incorporate APA Style into your high school curriculum as appropriate. We will cover topics such as paper format, references, and inclusive language and show how students’ existing knowledge of writing styles as well as common word-processing software make APA Style approachable and helpful. Once prepared with the essentials of APA Style, your soon-to-be high school graduates will be able to hit the ground running when they enter college as confident and effective communicators. Presented by the APA Style Team: Samantha Denneny, Chelsea Lee, and Timothy McAdoo represent the APA Style team of the American Psychological Association. They are members of the team responsible for writing and updating the seventh edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Mastering APA Style Student Workbook, and Concise Guide to APA Style. Together, the three of them have fielded more than 30,000 questions, written hundreds of blog posts, and spoken to countless people about APA Style. They are passionate about APA Style and excited to pass on their knowledge of effective scholarly communication; citations and references; and ethical, inclusive, and accessible writing. | Can't make it to the live session?
