Our next TVOT CONNECT virtual event will take place this Thursday, March 7th (2:00PM Eastern/11:00AM Pacific). Register for your free pass here: https://tinyurl.com/4f4kbff9 (Zoom registration required).
Thursday’s get-together—which will be hosted by Colin Dixon, Chief Analyst of nScreenMedia, and Tracy Swedlow, Editor-in-Chief of ITVT and Co-Producer of TVOT—will center on a discussion about the future of sports media, and will feature Jon Giegengack, Principal of Hub Entertainment Research, which recently released the results of a new consumer survey on sports and streaming.
TOPIC:
It is a common belief that sports are one genre of content that continues to drive passion and demand. We will explore how fans and consumers value sports—including sports-adjacent content. We will also discuss sports fandom vis-a-vis consumption platforms, and address such questions as: How “sticky” is exclusive content on a platform for subscribers’ or viewers’ retention or acquisition? Does it differ by major US sports? Does fragmentation impact the overall fan experience? And what is the potential impact of Spulu, the controversial proposed sports streaming service from Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery?
(TVOT SF 2024 Note: Jon Giegengack will be moderating the March 28th TVOT SF session, “Streaming and Sports” Register here; view the full agenda here):
