Is the retail industry splintering into haves and have-nots?

So why are we still reporting on retail outlets closing and the Acadiana Mall struggling but other places in Louisiana are welcoming giant upscale retial locations? 

Confused? You’re not alone. Commercial property brokers, mall executives and other market watchers say some stores are improving their prospects with in-person shoppers while others are seeing their sales fall — or are going out of business altogether.

“There is definitely a gap between the haves and the have-nots, and that has an effect on retail,” said Lafayette-based Ryan Pecot with Stirling Properties.
