Nicola Sturgeon starting to worry Boris Johnson ‘planning for no-deal’

Nicola Sturgeon has expressed concern that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is “actually now almost planning for” a no-deal Brexit.

Scotland’s First Minister told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour she thought the chances of a deal happening before the end of the Brexit transition period was now “almost vanishingly small”.

Wet and cold Scottish pupils pen 'heartbreak' letter of complaint to school

A mother says a group of Scottish school children were so wet and cold in their classrooms last week that they wrote a full page of complaints that were "heartbreaking to read".

Last Friday, despite ice in the playground and pouring rain, children at the primary had to take their lunch break outside and then sit in wet clothes in cold classrooms, says mum-of-three, Claire Lawson.

Scottish schools should not be kept 'open at all costs'

Scotland’s largest teaching union has launched a new campaign calling on the Scottish Government to ensure teacher concerns around school safety in high prevalence areas of Covid-19 are taken seriously.

 letter sent to the First Minister by the Educational Institute of Scotland’s (EIS) general secretary Larry Flanagan reiterates fears from teachers their safety is being put at risk by the decision to keep schools open regardless of the severity of the spread of Covid-19.

Dame Barbara Windsor dies

Dame Barbara Windsor, best known for her roles in EastEnders and the Carry On films, has died aged 83.

One of Britain’s most beloved entertainment stars, she first found fame in her role as a buxom blonde in the Carry On films and later became a household name playing Peggy Mitchell, the Queen Vic’s battle-axe landlady in BBC soap EastEnders.

Her husband Scott said the cherished actress’s final weeks were “typical of how she lived her life” and “full of humour, drama and a fighting spirit until the end”
