In Pittsburgh, First Lady, Su and Buttigieg highlight job growth successes

Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su joined First Lady Jill Biden and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg in Pittsburgh this week to highlight how Bidenomics is delivering investments and jobs to communities across the country.

Good jobs 🤝🏼 clean economy

The Labor Department, Department of the Interior and EPA are formally partnering to help create good jobs that support a clean economy. This is part of the Biden-Harris administration's efforts to support climate action and equity and create good-paying union jobs. "The benefits made possible by our partnership will show we don’t need to choose between good jobs and climate action when, in fact, we can achieve both," said Acting Secretary Su.

High road to the middle class

Acting Secretary Su unveiled a new interactive map spotlighting more than 2,400 high road training programs preparing America’s workers for good jobs in infrastructure, clean energy and manufacturing across every U.S. state and territory. The map will help employers, government agencies, unions, workers and others locate programs that advance job quality, equity and worker voice, as well as find where such programs are needed.

We've awarded more than $80 million to help expand registered apprenticeship opportunities, including:

Proposed rule would reduce miners' exposure to respirable crystalline silica

A proposed rule would increase protections for miners against occupational exposure to silica dust. The rule would ensure miners have at least the same level of protections as workers in other industries.

Retirement plan fiduciaries will pay $124M+ to settle lawsuits

Fiduciaries of a retirement plan sponsored by DST Systems Inc. will pay more than $124.6 million to resolve violations of federal law related to their failure to manage the profit-sharing portion of the plan properly.

Dollar General continues to endanger workers

OSHA inspectors cited two Florida Dollar General stores for fire hazards and other unsafe conditions. Since 2017, the company has accumulated more than $21 million in fines in more than 243 inspections nationwide.

A new final rule will improve how OSHA tracks workplace injuries and illnesses by requiring some employers in high-hazard industries to submit data they already keep.
