Microsoft and Advanced Energy Economy Give Predictive Power to Online Advocacy Platform

AEE just launched PowerSuite Forecasts to support legislative advocacy and focused business planning. Powered by Microsoft Azure's machine learning cloud service, PowerSuite enables AEE member companies and state partner organizations* to leverage data and analytics to correctly predict legislative outcomes with over 87% accuracy.

The new feature builds upon PowerSuite’s exclusive database of bills pending in Congress and all 50 states, and assesses the probability of a bill’s enactment based on the hundreds of data points either known about the bill when it is introduced, or collected as it moves through the legislative process.

With this new insight, users can adjust their strategies to improve the odds of advancing policies that expand markets and remove barriers to competition for advanced energy technologies, products and services.

Use of ‘Third-Party Entities’ for State and Federal Implementation of the Clean Power Plan: Issues and Options

Register for this clean power plan webinar on 10/27WHEN: October 27, 2016 at 10am pacific / 1pm eastern

Even as the D.C. Circuit Court weighs the future of EPA’s Clean Power Plan (CPP), states across the country are figuring out how to reduce carbon emissions in the electric power sector. Some states are also beginning to look at how they will administer the compliance plan that gets them to their CPP target. State and federal air regulators face challenges in the form of budgetary and staff constraints, and inexperience with ways advanced energy technologies can be used to reduce carbon emissions. As EPA itself has indicated, one solution to this challenge is to turn to outside organizations for help.

This webinar will focus on the concepts described in a new paper, Use of “Third-Party Entities” for State and Federal Implementation of the Clean Power Plan: Issues and Options, written by attorneys at the law firm Van Ness Feldman. The paper outlines ways state regulators and EPA can outsource some CPP implementation functions in order to leverage existing expertise while reducing administrative burden and cost.
