Hollywood's biggest night is almost here
After a seemingly endless awards show season that had even the most cynical among us debating the possibility of a Brad Pitt-Jennifer Aniston reunion 15 years after their divorce, the 92nd annual Academy Awards will air live Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
If you're still filling out your ballot, we've got some solid predictions about who will win, while respectfully noting who should win. Drinks on you once you obliterate your colleagues and are crowned pop culture champion of the office.
Renée Zellweger as Judy Garland in "Judy" Spoiler alert: Nostalgia's coming out on top, which could be why our entertainment critic Johnny Oleksinski thinks Renée Zellweger is a shoo-in for Best Actress for playing "an unstable, 40-something Judy Garland" in "Judy." Meanwhile, Meghan O'Keefe at Decider makes an unexpected argument for why Zellweger deserved a nod for her work in the 2001 classic "Bridget Jones's Diary." Scarlett Johansson's also nominated for "Marriage Story," and her real-life relationship with "Saturday Night Live" star Colin Jost is just as interesting.
If you're auditioning for the role of most interesting person at your viewing party, brush up with our list of the youngest Oscar winners and nominees of all time. Turns out Anna Paquin said a lot more than just seven words when she won for her role in "The Piano" at just 11 years old. From a remote-controlled hat to feathered trains, Billy Porter continues to make the slog of awards season a delight. The red carpet mainstay was just overheard talking a big game about what he'll wear Sunday, saying, "I have something cooking for the Oscars. It's a surprise. I can't tell any of you. Just you wait." Maybe that means it's edible?
Meanwhile, on the small screen, Sofia Richie — daughter of Lionel Richie and Diane Alexander, younger sister of Nicole Richie, and significantly younger girlfriend of Scott Disick — has just announced she won't appear on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" because she wants to focus on acting. Somebody notify the Academy. |
