Dear John, I’m delighted to share some important news about the Chronicle: Next month, Andrew Simon will become our new editor-in-chief. Andrew has a mix of expertise that will ensure our editorial staff continues to serve your needs well. He’s spent much of his career at media organizations that cater to highly engaged, informed audiences, like you. And he played a significant role in building a nonprofit focused on environmental journalism. Throughout Andrew’s career, he has sought to spotlight stories that help leaders see around the corner to the trends and insights that best inform and improve their decision making and maximize their organizations’ impact. Over seven years, as director of leadership programming at Grist, a nonprofit news site focused on environmental news and commentary, he launched or co-launched: The Grist 50, an annual list of emerging leaders Fix, a network and events program A special section focused on climate solutions The inaugural Predictions list Temperature Check, Grist's first podcast Andrew also started a journalism fellowship for emerging talent and was a founding leader of the Uproot Project, a network for environmental journalists of color. Previously, as a senior editor at Fast Company, he oversaw sections such as the Most Creative People in Business and Fast Talk, which showcases leadership insights. In 2019, Andrew became a senior editor at McKinsey & Company with a focus on covering sustainability and the energy transition to help business leaders navigate the climate future. Andrew is eager to lead our growing editorial staff as we seek to expand and evolve our offerings so that you are well prepared to navigate what comes next.
