This is a week for everyone to be grateful. Then again, I could say that about every week of the year. We don’t — or at least, we shouldn’t — need holidays to make us appreciate all the good things in our lives, even when bad things are happening. Gratitude is a choice, not an event. Let’s choose it! But yes, this week marks the arrival not only of Christmas but also Hanukkah, which this year arrives on the evening of Dec. 25. So let me give thanks to all of you for supporting Hoops HQ. We are obviously in the very early stages of this venture, but we couldn’t be more excited about the journey we’ve begun. I’ll resist the obvious Santa-and-reindeer jokes here and just say thanks for climbing aboard. We hope you enjoy the ride. On a personal note, Christmas Eve marks the annual airing on NBC of It’s A Wonderful Life, the greatest movie ever made. For the last several years, I have done a real-time live tweet of the movie on Christmas Eve. I plan on doing it again tomorrow night. I hope you will join me there as I steadily tweet my way toward Harry’s toast. (Have your Kleenex handy.) It’s a great way to celebrate life, love, art and...social media? Yeah, I know, it’s weird. But that’s me. You’ll find below your usual stuffed stocking of coverage from the action-packed weekend in college hoops, on both the men’s and women’s side. We got our Christmas gift early in the form of Paige v. JuJu, and it more than lived up to the hype. That story and the rest of our usual Monday fare is waiting to be unwrapped at the site. Enjoy! Ho Ho Ho. We'll be back in your inbox Saturday. —Seth |
