In what looks like the final coup de grace for Australian print news, Fairfax Media has announced that it will be cutting a quarter of its editorial staff at two of its newspapers and online sites. This will amount to about 125 jobs in all. Meanwhile, NZ's Commerce Commission has quashed a proposed merger between Fairfax and New Zealand Media and Entertainment.
