The submission period for the second round of public hearings in relation to a new international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response is now open The submission period for the second round of public hearings in relation to a new international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response is now open and will close on Tuesday, 13 September 2022 at 17.00 CEST (Geneva time). The World Health Organization (WHO) is inviting interested parties to submit a video statement in response to the question Based on your experience with the COVID-19 pandemic, what do you believe should be addressed at the international level to better protect against future pandemics? The statements should be up to 90 seconds long and submitted in any of the six official WHO languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish). Public hearings inform the deliberations of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB) to draft and negotiate a WHO convention, agreement or other international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, as mandated by the World Health Assembly at its special session in December 2021. During the first round of public hearings, held on 12 and 13 April 2022, WHO Member States heard from the public on the substantive elements to be included in the new international instrument on pandemic preparedness and response. The second round of public hearings will take place on 29 and 30 September 2022.
