| The heads of some of the world’s biggest social media companies faced U.S. senators on Wednesday, who accused them of continued failure in their efforts to protect children from harm online. Senator Lindsey Graham went so far as telling the bosses of Meta, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), Snap, and Discord that they have “blood on their hands,” adding that they have “a product that is killing people.” Invited by a senator to personally address parents in the room who’d lost children to online harm, Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg said his company, which owns Instagram, is continuing to make changes to ensure “no one has to go through the types of things that your families have had to suffer” ... | |

Hulu is cracking down on password sharing, too
| If you're sharing a Hulu account with someone outside your household, it's time to stop
| Hulu has started sending subscribers emails, including details of a crackdown on password sharing. Similar to moves made by streaming rival Netflix last year, the change affects subscribers who share their password with people living outside their household. Hulu's update went into effect for new subscribers from January 25, and for existing subscribers, it'll take effect on March 14 — or as soon as you acknowledge the new terms from within the Hulu app. After that, if Hulu determines that you're still sharing your login, it could suspend or terminate your account. Netflix actually saw an uptick in new subscribers following its own crackdown on account sharing, so Hulu will be hoping for the same effect ... | |
