Good morning and thanks for joining us. Here are some of today's top headlines. A 'new world': A Honduran man went to a U.S. Customs appointment in New Orleans in early April, hoping to emerge a step closer to securing citizenship. Instead, ICE agents arrested him. The man, as James Finn reports, is part of a cascade of people facing criminal charges for immigration violations under Trump. Car insurance battle: A slate of bills that insurance companies and business interests say would hold down rising car insurance rates in Louisiana won approval from the House on Monday. But will they really stop rates from rising? Tyler Bridges got the talking points from both sides. Remembering 'a fierce advocate': Robert Jenkins, a prominent New Orleans criminal defense attorney who represented former Mayor Ray Nagin and former Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard in their respective federal corruption cases, has died at 67. John Simerman has this look back at Jenkins' life and career. Thanks for reading. Check back throughout the day for more news, entertainment and sports from The Times-Picayune. |
