IDA'S TOLL IN JEFFERSON: Hurricane Ida's laid waste to electrical infrastructure across the New Orleans area, but in Jefferson Parish, the storm also did a number on the water system and caused problems with sewer service as well. THE PLIGHT OF THE 10/6 LIFERS: There are about 60 of them in prison in Louisiana: inmates who took plea deals that handed them life in prison under the expectation that they could get out after 10 years and six months for good behavior. It was a common practice for many decades in Louisiana. Then the law changed, leaving many in the lurch. As John Simerman reports, some of those sentenced in New Orleans could now be getting out.
