Autonomous shipping high on the agenda at Europort
Europe moves to secure energy independence |
|
Europort 2023, which takes place 7–10 November at Rotterdam Ahoy, will shine a light on the latest trends and developments in European shipping. One of the most prominent topics of discussion in the maritime industry right now is Europe’s efforts to secure energy independence from Russia, with the war in Ukraine and the recent closure of Nord Stream 1 causing disruption to the continent’s gas supply. As Europe’s largest consumer of gas, Germany is leading these efforts, with the country announcing the completion of its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in November 2022. Set to open in January 2023, the facility is one of five planned LNG terminals in Germany. Meanwhile, according to recent comments from Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Greece could introduce up to four new LNG terminals over the next few years in a bid to improve the energy security of the country and its neighbours. Gain further insight into the latest developments in Europe’s LNG sector – and the maritime industry as a whole – at Europort 2023. |

| Developments in autonomous shipping accelerate ahead of Europort 2023 | Autonomous vessels are widely regarded as the future of the maritime industry.
