| | | | | | Hi Achternaam, Some smells make us think of different times of year. When I smell sage, I think of Thanksgiving dinner. When I smell freshly mown hay, I think of summertime. When I smell cinnamon and cloves, I think of fruit butter. What is fruit butter, anyway? Fruit butter is a special way of preserving fruit by adding spices and cooking it down for a long period of time, to remove the extra moisture. The result is a thick, spreadable, richly flavored topping for toast or biscuits. Oh, it’s delicious. Can you tell I love fruit butter? Mmmmm. If you have extra fall fruit around, you should give it a try! I cook my fruit down in the slow cooker, which makes it easier than tending a pot on the stove. Learn how to make apple butter here.
