What I mean is… Do you ever get to points in your life when it feels like something new and big and important is just over the horizon, like you are about to encounter a fresh phase in your life, a new patch of ground, a new leg of your journey? It feels both exciting and scary. Like birthing a baby. I was with Lisa when she birthed each of our three kids. She was too LOL. I helped her in any way I could, including coaching her with breathing. But that’s basically all you can do is don’t resist and let it happen. And breathe. It’s only at the end when you know it’s time to push. But it’s natural and organic and hopefully quick. Often, that’s what these spiritual transitions are like in our lives. All you can do is let it happen, don’t resist it, and breathe. But here’s the important thing… we’re also the baby! These moments are huge because we are birthing into a bigger space. From limits and barriers to the great wide open. And this is why it’s new, scary, and unsettling. We don’t know how to live there yet because we have no experience or practice. We might have read books or heard others speak about it. But that’s about as helpful as reading a book on bull-riding before you get on one. What is beautiful about it is that our minds are opening our hearts are enlarging and our spirits are spreading their wings to embrace more and more of the wonder of it all. We are preparing for a more expansive, generous, and compassionate posture before the whole universe and all that is within it. You are not only birthing. You are also the beautiful baby. Congratulations! |
