Hey Golfers, I'm not a very superstitious person, but good things seem to happen when Golf Digest comes to see me in Dallas. Last year, we got together the week of the Dell Match Play, and my first cover story landed the week of the Masters. That turned out pretty well! This time, we snuck the shoot in before a big ice storm shut down Dallas the week before the WM Open, and the story was finalized the week of The Players Championship. Winning those two big tournaments and making it to World No. 1 hasn't changed who I am or what I want to accomplish. But there's no question I've had to learn how to adapt to a new environment where there's more attention on me, way more people outside the ropes, and a lot less quiet time at tournaments. The lessons I've learned over these last 18 months—really, since the Ryder Cup in fall 2021—are the basis of the story in this new issue. Hopefully, what I learned can help you play better, too. In addition to these bigger ideas on how to think, I offer some mechanical advice on two shots I can teach you and two I won't. It's extremely exciting to return to Augusta National as the defending champion. Thank you for all the support. You can find a full archive of all the stories and videos I've done with Golf Digest—from swing sequences to Undercover Lessons to a look inside my bag—at Golf Digest+. Here's to a great season, Scottie |
