Good morning and welcome to a new week and a new month!

It's hard to believe it's already August in this strange year - but the news keeps coming.

Today we are reporting on the number of dog attacks across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble and police are seeking help to find a woman from Morecambe, last seen yesterday at Preston railway station.

We will continue to report the latest on the fast-moving Covid-19 story, as Greater Manchester declared major incident due to escalating transmission rates. We are monitoring developments closely.

Meanwhile, Preston's own Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuiness were spotted with co-host Chris Harris filming at Blackpool airport this weekend and in happy news - a Leyland boy in an accident in Leyland has been released from hospital.

For all the latest breaking news follow our live blog today.

As always we appreciate your support and if you would like to subscribe to lep.co.uk, that would be fabulous!
