What It Was Like to Stunt Double for Ryan Gosling in "The Fall Guy"

Ben Jenkin has been a stunt double for some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Jason Statham, Matthew McConaughey and Ewan McGregor. But arguably the biggest opportunity of his career came via a phone call from renowned stunt designer Chris O’Hara, for a project that would pay homage to his beloved industry.

Jenkin, a parkour specialist hailing from England, was recruited for the four-man team behind Ryan Gosling’s character Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy, the action-packed epic from stunt-legend-turned-auteur David Leitch and Kelly McCormick of 87North Productions. We spoke with Jenkin for a behind-the-scenes look at how he built (and survived) the stunts of The Fall Guy.

When the 720S debuted in 2017, it was a coming-of-age moment for McLaren’s fledging road car brand. Ferrari and Lamborghini had long enjoyed their reputation as the supercar standard-bearers, but with this new offering, McLaren suddenly had a compelling argument of its own.

Since then, the performance car realm has changed substantially. As the successor to the 720S, the new 750S finds itself in a landscape of sophisticated all-wheel drive systems and monstrously powerful EVs. On paper, this sports car’s V8 might seem underwhelming when there are factory-produced machines with horsepower figures that venture into quadruple-digit territory, but McLaren is a company that has a habit of focusing on the long-established fundamentals of sports car design rather than chasing the latest hype.

As a result, the 750S might just be the most thrilling road car that money can buy today.
