Lunchtime doubly so. --- Douglas Adams (1952 - 2001) _____________________________________________________ >From Didi The restaurant where I took my two sons for a meal was crowded with fans watching a sporting event on television. The harried waitress took our order, but more than half an hour passed with no sign of her return. I was trying to keep my kids from becoming restless when suddenly shouts of victory came from the bar. "Hey," commented my 11-year-old, "it sounds as if someone just got his food." _____________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________ My forgetter's getting better, But my rememberer is broke To you that may seem funny But, to me, that is no joke For when I'm "here" I'm wondering If I really should be "there" And, when I try to think it through, I haven't got a prayer! Oft times I walk into a room, Say "what am I here for?" I wrack my brain, but all in vain! A zero, is my score. At times I put something away Where it is safe, but, Gee! The person it is safest from Is, generally, me! When shopping I may see someone, Say "Hi" and have a chat, Then, when the person walks away I ask myself, "who was that?" Yes, my forgetter's getting better While my rememberer is broke, And it's driving me plumb crazy And that isn't any joke. ___________________________________________________ An INTERNATIONAL BONEHEAD AWARD has been earned by Michael Jarrod Bakkela, 41, Phoenix, Oregon USA Man charged with arson in connection to Oregon wildfire An Oregon man was charged with arson in connection to a raging wildfire that destroyed hundreds of homes, one of the blazes gripping the West Coast with death and devastation. Michael Jarrod Bakkela, 41, was jailed on two charges of arson, 15 counts of criminal mischief and 14 counts of reckless endangering for a fire that was set Tuesday in the Phoenix area in southern Oregon. The fire merged with the raging Almeda Fire, and there is "significant damage" that police are attributing to the fire allegedly set by Bakkela, Jackson County Sheriff's Office public information officer Mike Moran told ABC News. "There are numerous homes, many of which are burnt completely, some are just heavily damaged, that are part of the 15 counts of criminal mischief," Moran said. The fire also had an ignition point in Ashland near a spot where a man was found dead. Bakkela initially was arrested on Tuesday for a probation violation on an original charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Authorities charged him Friday in connection with the fire, which he denied starting. Bakkeela is locally known as a "crazy meth freak". DearWebby's Tech Support Pits From: Bausell Sailor RE: Thermos coffee cup Dear Webby, don't waste money on those warmers - buy a thermal cup for a few dollars more. I brew tea in the morning at about 8:00 and if I leave the lid on it is still hot 5 or more hours latter. and the cup can keep it hot on road trips or working outside where that coffee warmer will not work. I bought a 120v warmer and it did not take me long to throw that waste of money away - Bausell sailor. Dear Sailor I use a Harley Davidson thermal mug and have for decades. Nowadays, a good thermal mug is more expensive than a cup warmer, but you are not depending on electricity to keep your coffee warm. Best are the ones, that are wide at the bottom and narrow at the top. Have FUN! A month later, when Mrs. Darcy came in for another visit, the doctor asked, "How are we doing with the pill and the whiskey?" Mrs. Davis answered, "Well, he's a little behind with the pills, but he's about six months ahead with the whiskey." ____________________________________________ A father spoke to his son, "It's time we had a little talk my son. Soon you will have urges and feelings you've never had before. Your heart will pound and your hands will sweat. You'll be preoccupied and won't be able to think of anything else." The boy stared wide eyed and gulped, "Yes." The father continued, "But don't worry, it's perfectly normal. It's called golf." ____________________________________________ At the basketball court in a Gastonton, North Carolina, YMCA: Anyone caught hanging from the rim will be suspended In a Grand Rapids restaurant: Half baked chicken In a Dayton barbershop: During vacation of owner, a competent hair stylist will be here ____________________________________________ Ophelia Dingbatter's NewsNo sermon and not suitable for church, just jokes and fun for grownups.
