The instructions left in the will said that the oldest boy was to get one-half, the second oldest one-third, and the youngest one-ninth. The three sons, recognizing the difficulty of dividing 17 mules into these fractions, began to argue. Their uncle heard about the argument, hitched up his mule and drove out to settle the matter. He added his mule to the 17, making 18. The oldest therefore got one- half, or nine, the second oldest got one-third, or six, and the youngest son got one-ninth, or two. Adding up 9, 6 and 2 equals 17. The uncle, having settled the argument, hitched up his mule and drove home. ____________________________________________________ Snowflake, AB Black Fox ____________________________________________________ Thanks to Dianne for this story: Although many men in our rural area have difficulty accepting women's lib, my husband helps with the housework. One day he took over the vacuuming while I went to the store. The doorbell rang. It was one of his friends, a burly ranch foreman clad in a battered cowboy hat, faded jeans and worn boots. "I was just cleaning," my husband said somewhat abashed, turning off the vacuum. The rancher looked relieved. "That's all right," he said gruffly, handing my husband a white paper bag. "I'm delivering Avon!" ____________________________________________________ Reported by Rock An INTERNATIONAL BONEHEAD AWARD has been earned by Colin Melcher, Delray Beach, Florida, USA Dispatchers Tell Him To Stop Calling 911 Or Hell Be Arrested. They did, and Melcher was allegedly unhappy with the result of their work. Wrote an officer, After officers left, Melcher continued to call 911 and was advised by dispatch if he did not stop, he would be arrested. Sandie Dear Sandie First make sure you got a large picture to work with. If necessary expand it to 1024 x 768. That used to be the max size for the big tube type monitors. I still use that size for the large click-through picture. Then increase contrast by 10 - 15 points. That will also change the brightness and the picture might now be too bright or too dark. Adjust the brightness so that it looks about right. After that, you can mess with the contrast some more, and finally, tune the brightness again. Sometimes you have to repeat those steps until you are happy with it. Have FUN!
