Good Morning, Do! Today is Sunday, July 26 ___________________________________________________ Today, July 26 in 1953 Fidel Castro began his revolt against Fulgencio Batista with an unsuccessful attack on an army barracks in eastern Cuba. Castro eventually ousted Batista and Free Enterprise six years later. _____________________________________________________ Today's Bonehead Award: Kansas driving killer arrested ______________________________________________________ Happiness makes up in height for what it lacks in length. --- Robert Frost (1874 - 1963) _____________________________________________________ A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, Ryan, 3. The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson. "If Jesus were sitting here, He would say 'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'" Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, "Ryan, you be Jesus!" _____________________________________________________ Swiss lake Abdenour AB ___________________________________________________ >From Jaycey I had been teaching my three-year-old daughter, Caitlin, the Lord's Prayer. For several evenings at bedtime, she would repeat after me the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word, right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us some E-mail. Amen." ___________________________________________________ An INTERNATIONAL BONEHEAD AWARD has been earned by Walter Edward Taylor III, 20, Wellington, Kansas, USA Kansas driving killer arrested Police have identified the victim and suspect in a deadly shooting in Wellington earlier this week. DearWebby's Tech Support Pits From: George RE: Covid is serious Dear Webby, Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it and your point of view. My main point is that this particular virus is MORE lethal than flu, drunk driving and homicides combined. The flu does not discriminate on political point of view. And so people need to take it seriously. And while boosted immunity systems help, so do many other simple measures, including masks, distancing etc. What some people call encouraging precautions, other people call creating fear. If you want to talk about capitalizing on fear, I'd say sending federal agents to cities where they are not requested is also a pretty good fear creating tactic for political advantage. Let's agree to disagree on the politics but lets both agree that the virus is serious, and we need to not underestimate it or underplay its severity, at the very least for the sake of the economy and public health. We can continue to apply a generous helping of humor, for which I thank and congratulate you. George Dear George OK, I will agree with you that the virus is serious. I comply with distancing, and I have a mask I use when going to Costco, even through everybody distances quite nicely there. Here is a trick to test yourself: Put the back side of your index finger, or any reasonably clean finger, under the tip of your nose. Is it cool and moist, then you are not infected. If it is hot and dry, go get the official Govt test, because you are infected and can infect others. Here in Alberta 178 people died out of 10,086 confirmed cases, 1.76% Almost 100% of those who died were in old folks homes or over 90. You might have different percentages where you are, but I agree with you that it is indeed serious. Have FUN! The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle. Finally, the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out. Just before reaching the safety of the foyer, the little one called loudly to the congregation, "Pray for me! Pray for me!" _____________________________________________ A Sunday school teacher asked her little children, as they were on the way to church service, "And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?" One bright little girl replied, "Because people are sleeping." ____________________________________________ Six-year-old Angie and her four-year-old brother Joel, were sitting together in church. Joel giggled, sang and talked out loud. Finally, his big sister had had enough. "You're not supposed to talk out loud in church." "Why? Who's going to stop me?" Joel asked. Angie pointed to the back of the church and said, "See those two big men in gangsta suits standing by the door? They're hushers."
