Apparently, his five-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased. The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said: "Glory be unto the Faaaather, and unto the Sonnn..... and into the hole he gooooes." ___________________________________________________ Dear Webbys Tech Support Pits From: Melinda RE: Caps Lock Dear Webby yeah, I know you told us before how to deal with Caps Lock. Officials say Mark-Eric Ponsati called 911 on September 7, 2017 to report that his wife had slipped in the bathroom and hit her head. She was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. Police then received calls from relatives of the woman who said the couple had a tumultuous marriage and that she had told them Ponsati threatened to kill her if she tried to leave him. Court documents also show that the scene appeared to be staged and that an autopsy found the woman could not have died by the single-fall injury Ponsati described. According to the medical examiner, she had multiple blunt- force injuries, spine and brain bruising consistent with shaking, along with skull and rib fractures. The police report showed Ponsanti was an active member of the U.S. Army Reserve. A Google search of him showed he was a judge advocate general also known as a JAG officer. Ponsati was arrested on September 14 on suspicion of second-degree murder. In May 2023, 42-year-old Ponsati was sentenced to 25 years in prison. ______________________________________________ In the backwoods of Arkansas, a young redneck's wife went into labor in the middle of the night, and their elderly country doctor was called out to assist her in the delivery. Since there was no electricity, the doctor handed the father-to-be a lantern and said, "Here, you hold this high so's I can see what it is I'm doing." Soon, a baby boy was brought into the world. "Whoa there." said the doctor, "Don't be in a rush to put that lantern down... I think there's yet another one coming...." Surely enough, in a few more minutes, the old doctor had delivered a baby girl. "No, no, don't be in a great hurry to be putting down that lantern. It seems there's yet another one in there!" cried the doctor in amazement. The bewildered redneck scratched his head and asked the country doctor, "Do you think it's the light that's attracting them?" ________________________________________________ A husband and wife were involved in a petty argument, both of them unwilling to admit they might be in error. "I'll admit I'm wrong," the wife told her husband in a conciliatory attempt, "if you'll admit I'm right. He agreed and, like a gentleman, insisted she go first. "I'm wrong," she said. With a twinkle in his eye, he responded, "You're right!!" _____________________________________________ From Ana Himalayan Blue Poppies __________________________________________________ A little boy opened the big family bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. "Mama, look what I found", the boy called out. "What have you got there, dear"? With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, "I think it's Adam's underwear!" _________________________________________________ Laura Mountain Laurel __________________________________________________ An old lady went to the grocery store. She was searching the isles for a special product that had come on the market. It was similar to the toilet paper but these special wipes provided an aloe vera coating that soothed after wiping. Anyway, the old woman could hardly see. She was searching through the spices and more section, thinking that the wipes were found there. Picking up a yellow box, she squinted at its name. "Yep," she said, "these must be them." Making her way to the register, she paid for them and went home. Later, that afternoon, she tried the wipes and found them satisfactory. Her oldest son came home that day and found the box she had bought in the bathroom. Thinking that his mother must have been mistaken and placed them in the bathroom by accident, he took the box into the kitchen. Seeing the box on the counter, she said, "Son, these belong in the bathroom. These are special wipes and they don't belong here. They're called "Butt-A-Wipes". Shaking his head, he gently informed his mother. "No, Mother, these aren't those kind of wipes. These are wipes for basting chicken and turkeys. These are called "Butter Wipes", and they are certainly not used for that!" The old woman blanched, realizing that she had made a mistake. "Well," she said, "they did leave me squeaky clean!" ____________________________________________________ Today, May 21 in 0996, Sixteen year old Otto III was crowned the Roman Emperor. 1471, King Henry VI was killed in the tower of London.
