Wärtsilä examines ‘urgent challenges’ of digitalisation and decarbonisation |
|
Two of the key themes at Europort 2023, which takes place 7–10 November at Rotterdam Ahoy, are ‘Digitalisation’ and ‘Energy Transition’. In a new report – Debunking the mythical beasts of maritime digital transformation – Europort exhibitor Wärtsilä has identified the same themes as the most urgent challenges facing shipping companies. Of the maritime professionals surveyed in Wärtsilä’s report, 78% acknowledged digital transformation as a positive. However, the report also revealed widespread concerns surrounding the time and financial investment digitalisation requires. As regards the energy transition, 8 in 10 recognised the crucial role digital technology will play in meeting long-term emissions-reduction targets. Yet with companies facing decarbonisation challenges in the here and now, only 37% of respondents confirmed they do the minimum to remain compliant. ‘The right technologies’ and ‘collaborative efforts’ will be critical to overcoming these challenges, says Wärtsilä. Join the discussion on digitalisation and the energy transition at Europort 2023 – and visit Wärtsilä at stand 7317. In the meantime, read the full report via the button below. |
