HSE has extended the approval expiry dates for pesticide active substances, which have been supported for use in GB, and which were due to expire before April 2025. Each active substance affected has been considered individually and approval holders have been contacted on the outcome, which confirms extensions of up to 5 years. Applicants who have submitted a renewal application for an affected active substance have been contacted. The GB Pesticides Approvals Register has been updated with the new expiry dates. The decisions to extend the approval period has been taken in line with Article 17(1) of retained regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. The length of the extension has been determined on the basis of Article 17(3) of that regulation, particularly the need to establish a coherent renewals work programme and the time needed to complete the renewals procedure for individual substances. HSE will be extending affected plant protection products, where appropriate, and will be contacting authorisation holders in due course; starting with those with the earliest expiry dates. Any queries should be directed by email to [email protected] HSE has completed a review of the approval of the active substance alpha-cypermethrin. The approval to use alpha-cypermethrin as a PPP will now be withdrawn. In an ebulletin issued on 11 April 2022, HSE gave notice of its proposal to withdraw the approval of alpha-cypermethrin pending consultation with the World Trade Organisation. This consultation has now concluded and the withdrawal of the approval of alpha-cypermethrin in GB will proceed. The statutory approvals register has been updated to reflect this change. The register includes a link to the decision document for this review which provides further information. HSE will now take action to withdraw the authorisations of PPP containing alpha-cypermethrin. This will include a grace period for the sale, distribution, storage, disposal and use of existing stocks. |
