| In August 2023 HSE issued a safety notice regarding the discovery of unsafe bolts on BendPak XPR series two-post vehicle lifts. BendPak XPR series two-post vehicle lifts have a half-moon-shaped arm restraint gear on each arm which is either welded or bolted. On some of the lifts with the arm restraint gear attached with bolts, the bolts do not meet the required strength standard increasing the risk of a major incident.  The HSE safety notice sets out the actions users and suppliers should take to rectify any potential problems with BendPak XPR two-post vehicle lifts associated with the incorrect restraining mechanism.  View the safety notice in full The owner of a motor repair company has been jailed for 10 months after a man was crushed under a van and later died. Following on from HSE's MVR e-bulletin (3 February 2023) which warned mechanics of the life-threatening dangers of working under vehicles, HSE has issued a press release, documenting the recent jailing of a sole trader following the death of an employee.  Geoff Fletcher, an HSE Inspector who works with the motor vehicle repair trade said: âThis case is a stark reminder of how things can go tragically wrong when simple steps to make working under vehicles safe, are not followed.â View the press release in full HSE has further guidance on our website, including: working safely under motor vehicles being repaired |
