HSE Biocides ebulletin

This ebulletin contains informationonregulating biocidesin Great Britain (GB).

The GB Biocidal Products Regulation (GB BPR) operates independently from the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (EU BPR), which applies in Northern Ireland.

Separate ebulletins containing information specific to regulating biocides in Northern Ireland are issued as appropriate.

GB guidance has been published

Supplementary GB guidance for PT 19 efficacy evaluations is available

HSE have considered the guidance on product type 19 (PT 19) that was added to the ECHA efficacy guidance in December 2021. The guidance on PT 19 has been adopted for GB with 2 exceptions which are detailed in the new supplementary GB guidance document.

The 2 exceptions are related to:

• mortality testing requirements for invertebrates
• claims and test species for topical mosquito repellent

The new GB guidance also contains additional information specifically for GB applicants. The guidance should be used for applications from December 2023.
