As disinformation and social media correspondent Marianna Spring notes, over the course of 2024, the platform now known as X has evolved from what felt like a communal town square into a polarised hub where views and posts seem even more controversial. One account holder that recently opened a profile under the name Inevitable West, which calls itself a "Defender of Western values and culture", described being able to earn a minimum of "$2,500 [£2,000] a month" when posting around seven times a day. |

The Prime Timers, made up of 17 members from seven care homes in Warwickshire, England, broke the Guinness World Record during a Christmas carol concert earlier this month.
