I’ve known this on a rational level for a long time. But now I’m beginning to understand it at a deep and experiential level...
Everything is connected.
How we do one thing is how we do everything. And how we do everything is how we do one thing.
So… how we do life is how we do sex.
And how we do sex is how we do life.
Man, I wish I saw this sooner. But… it’s never too late.
That’s why I’m reading about Tantra right now. It’s about being here now. It’s about being without stress. It’s about not being goal-oriented. It’s about enjoying each other and our bodies and everything right here right now, unhindered, unashamed, fearless, and joyful.
The other day I made a video about being human. Years ago I read a book, Christ Can Make You Fully Human, and I remember the controversy I caused when I read it. I don’t agree with everything in that book, especially the last half. But I do remember thinking to myself that I’ve spent my whole religious life trying to escape from my humanity… my fallen, sinful, depraved self. I even preached on the great “kenosis” passage in Philippians where it says God humbled himself and became a human being, and thinking, “Why am I constantly being discouraged from being a human… a fully alive, physical, emotional, social, sexual human being?”
Something happened on that day. I rejected all notions about my flesh being fallen, my body being bad, and my desires being undesirable.
Like Wim Hof says in one of his breathing exercise videos, “FEEL! Feel your body!”
So I feel. Me! I … as I am … belong!
This is what I feel I am all about.
I’m establishing my place in the world for me! But this also means I’m working hard to establish a safe space for everyone else too.
You… as you are… belong!
