A marketing funnel identifies specific customer stages and works to influence and engage customers throughout each stage. This funnel coincides with the customer's journey from first learning about a brand or company all the way until after they make a purchase. One of the most notable benefits of a marketing funnel is its measurability. When used properly, you can easily determine which stage you're losing customers to readjust your strategy as needed.

Similarly to a marketing funnel, a quiz funnel acts as a path for your potential customers to travel through.

A quiz funnel is a powerful way to gain insights about your audience through varied questions that can help you to segment your audience, develop future content and build deeper relationships.

Companies across a wide range of industries use quiz funnels to communicate with their audience in different ways.

What exactly is a quiz funnel?

A quiz funnel is a series of questions that you ask your audience online based on end goals that you determine. There are several different types of questions that you can use within your quiz to gain a deeper understanding of your audience and collect the information that you are looking for.

Types of questions in a quiz funnel:

  • Multiple Choice Questions where respondents pick one answer from a list of options
  • Checkbox Questions where respondents can pick multiple answers from a list of options
  • Short Response Questions where respondents type in a short answer to your question (typically 50 characters or less)
  • Long Response Questions where respondents type in a longer answer to your questions (typically a few paragraphs or less)

The purpose of using a quiz funnel is to better understand who your audience is, what they want and what they need. The information that you collect from each quiz funnel can be used to refocus your marketing approach, provide valuable and tailored content to your email subscribers and to gain a better overall understanding of your audience as a whole.

To start, you can access Google Forms to easily create your first quiz. Google Forms makes it easy to type in your questions, choose your question type and fill out all relevant answers for your respondents.

Take a look at the example below:

Here's a short list that will help you create a great quiz:

1. Keep it short. Keep your quiz to no more than 10 questions, 5 - 7 questions is ideal.

2. Make your questions clear and concise. If your questions aren't explicit, you're likely to get inconsistent answers and respondents are most likely going to give up.

3. Keep your list of answer choices short if you're using multiple choice. 3 - 5 options is ideal. If you choose several more, your data can become overwhelming.

4. Start with an easy question. Ask a question that doesn't require a lot of thought on the part of your respondent and have 2 or 3 answer options.

5. Deliver on your promise as soon as possible. If you're using your quiz as a lead generation or are offering your respondents something in exchange for completing, such as collateral, a tailored list of artwork or a newsletter article, be sure to send it right away.

Overall, quiz funnels are a great way to incorporate new forms of communication into your existing marketing strategy. They offer a chance to receive valuable feedback from your audience so you can continue to build a deeper connection.

Sincerely,
