See how to trade the market’s “Rush Hour” for next-day payouts How to Identify and Trade the Best Trending Stocks If you want to make money trading, which is what we’re all here for, the first thing you need to do is stop wasting time on bad stocks. A stock that moves like a roller coaster — all over the place with no clear direction — is not a stock you should be trading. The best stocks are smooth, consistent and predictable. They respect key technical levels, and they give you clear entry and exit points. I see too many traders forcing setups on stocks that just aren’t worth it. You don’t need to trade everything... You just need to trade the right stocks. What Makes a Stock Worth Trading? A good trading stock should have three key characteristics: 1. A Clear Trend — Whether it’s moving up or down, the stock should have a clear directional bias. If a stock is chopping back and forth, you’re setting yourself up for unnecessary losses. 2. Respect for Moving Averages — The best stocks follow technical rules. They bounce off the 8-day exponential moving average (EMA) or the 50-day moving average with consistency. If a stock constantly ignores these levels, it’s harder to trade with confidence. 3. Minimal Noise and Choppiness — Stocks with excessive wicks and erratic price action are also tough to trade. If you enter a stock and it immediately moves against you by a large percentage, it’s not a good trading candidate. The Best Trending Stocks Right Now There were a few standout stocks in my recent watchlist that fit this criteria: Boston Scientific (BSX) — This stock has been moving in a clean, consistent uptrend. It’s respecting the 8-day EMA and not getting too far ahead of itself. Palantir (PLTR) — One of the smoothest movers in the market. Look at its intraday price action — barely any wicks, clean trend, strong upside. It moves like butter, and that’s exactly what you want in a stock. Wells Fargo (WFC) — I can’t stand this company on a fundamental basis, but the stock trades beautifully. It follows moving averages like clockwork and gives you clear trade setups. When a stock trends this well, personal opinions don’t matter. The Stocks to Avoid On the flip side, some stocks look like a mess and should be avoided: Rocket Lab (RKLB) — You want to lose money? Trade a stock like this. It’s all wicks and noise. If you day trade something like this, you’ll likely get your head handed to you more often than not. Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) — Too gappy, too unpredictable. One day it looks great, the next day it gaps down 5%. That’s not a stock you want to mess with at this point. Costco (COST) — Great company, but right now, it’s too far extended. You don’t want to chase a stock that’s already made its big move — up 15.5% the past month. Wait for it to pull back before jumping in. You don’t need to trade everything — you need to trade the right things. The best stocks move smoothly, respect technical levels and give you an edge. If you find yourself getting chopped up in bad trades, take a step back and look at the quality of the stocks you’re trading. Raise your standards, and your results will follow.Roger Scott Roger Scott Trading Follow along and join the conversation for real-time analysis, trade ideas, market insights and more!
