Closing the rural enrollment gap |
| | | | | | | Rural high-school students enroll in college at a lower rate than urban students. To close this gap, The University of Pittsburgh’s “rural recruiter,” Daryl Burleigh has been tasked with reaching this demographic.
The Chronicle’s latest photo essay follows Burleigh, once a first-gen student from a rural area himself, on a few of his stops to connect with students in rural areas. By the end of the year, he will have traveled more than 10,000 miles to attend 85 events. |
