It’s no exaggeration to say the control of the Senate — and the White House — could be decided by “the biggest little city in the world.”

Centered in Truckee River Valley, the desert town of Reno, Nevada, also sits at the center of the national debate over inflation, immigration and federal abortion bans.

And with Reno being the seat of the perennially purple Washoe County, which has often tipped the balance in the Silver swing State, few places will have as much say as to what is done to address these issues at the federal level.

“To the rest of the country, this is where the White House will be won and the Senate will be taken back,” Republican Senate candidate Sam Brown told supporters on Tuesday. “We are the battleground of the nation.”

The problem with gas — and not the kind you use for your car

Agriculture is responsible for about 10.6% of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. Cattle in particular are a concern, as their burps and manure release a fair amount of methane gas.

Farmers and ranchers across the nation, including here in Utah, are adopting ways to minimize those releases.

Mitch Hancock, a Corinne dairy farmer, knows all too well about the challenges of dairy farming and is working on solutions. He turns 90% of the manure on his ranch into compost to reduce carbon emissions and help eliminate the need for costly fertilizer.
