Study: Longer work hours increase heart disease risk

As the debate over allowing residents to work longer shifts continues, a study published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine found that working more hours may lead to higher risk for heart disease.

How much do coordinators earn?

The results of HCPro’s 2015 Residency Coordinator Salary Survey showed no changes in the percentage of respondents who reported earning salaries in the lower ranges compared to the 2014 survey results. It did show decreases in those earning mid-range salaries and slight gains in some of the higher salary ranges.

Use positive reinforcement to train residents

The orthopedic surgery program at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx is employing a technique often associated with training dogs to teach its residents basic surgical techniques.
