Dear Voornaam, It has been a depressingly heavy news agenda recently which may explain the viral sensation of one ill-fated chocolate-themed event in Glasgow. As our World Editor Jane Bradley reports today, the tale of a woefully bad children’s event in Glasgow has captured the interest of millions of people around the world. On the off chance you have not yet seen it, the £35-a-head Willy Wonka-themed event at the Box Hub Warehouse in Whiteinch disappointed families when they turned up to find an almost-empty warehouse, devoid of entertainment, decoration or indeed chocolate goodies. The story has been covered by the likes of The New York Times and India Today, among many others. For the record, the organisers of the event have apologised and pledged to refund customers. As Jane explains today, it is the perfect embodiment of a story of the digital age - and has also brought some much-needed distraction. One event in Glasgow we are sure will be far more successful is the World Indoor Athletics Championships, due to kick off tomorrow. We have everything you need to know running on scotsman.com now ahead of three days of top-class athletics, with some real Scottish medal prospects. Have a great evening Alan |
