What you may not know, however, is that we have a talented team on the ground in Washington, DC tirelessly advocating for public policy that respects human dignity and protects religious liberty. GET UPDATES ON OUR WORK IN WASHINGTON, D.C.Our work on Capitol Hill centers on principles important to all of us. We advocate for life The ERLC stands for life. We navigate complex issues related to human dignity because every person is an image bearer of God. Our pro-life ethics shape our policy work, especially our efforts to protect the most vulnerable among us. We advocate for religious liberty We promote religious liberty as a biblical principle because God alone is Lord of the conscience. We stand with our Baptist forefathers in defending the free exercise of faith for all people. We believe courage and civility matter In this toxic moment for our public square, we are focused on cultivating convictional kindness, bridging partisan divides, and working with leaders guided by the principles of truth and respect. We seek justice In our advocacy for fair and impartial judgment, and equitable treatment of the unjustly oppressed and marginalized, we bear witness to a God who is ultimately the just Judge. Our work advances reforms consistent with this biblical guidance. This week, we released our 2021 Legislative Agenda. This document gives an overview of our work in Washington, D.C. on behalf of Southern Baptists and highlights our public policy priorities. We work in Washington with joy, no matter who or what party is in power because our mission is not defined by cultural definitions or voting patterns. Our mission is defined by a person: Jesus Christ. Your Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission is honored to provide a consistent moral witness on your behalf in our nation’s capital and in the public square.
