How Digital Reading Lists Support Student Engagement and Reserve Management
Friday, March 1, 2019
2-3 PM ET, 11 AM-12 PM PT

After successfully completing the transition to a new Library Services Platform in fall 2017, the Ithaca College library turned their attention to providing instructors a better way to manage course resources and easily leverage the library’s holdings. Together with campus IT, Ithaca College implemented a new reading list tool, Ex Libris Leganto, embedded into Ithaca’s learning management system. This improved students’ access to course resources, directly impacting teaching and learning. Now, a year after the pilot-phase, the library has integrated this new service to all instructors for delivering reserve and e-reserve content.

In this presentation, you’ll hear suggestions for developing a relationship with campus IT where you can collaborate effectively; how to navigate a co-managed project such as this; and how to develop a service that enhances teaching and learning. Finally, planning for the long term and rolling out a service such as Leganto, campus-wide, will be discussed.
